Joy of Resistance will speak with Vicki Saporta, President and CEO of the National Abortion Federation (NAF). NAF has been tracking the marked increase in violence against clinics performing abortion, since the “investigation” of Planned Parenthood by a Congressional Committee, after a doctored video was released, aimed at falsely accusing Planned Parenthood of “selling baby parts.” We will be putting the recent murders at the abortion clinic in Colorado Springs–after which the shooter was heard to say “no more baby parts” in a historical perspective. We’ll also speak with Sunsara Taylor of Stop Patriarchy, which immediately called a demonstration after the Colorado Springs attack and is planning an action in Washington DC on January 22, the anniversary of Roe v Wade, to defend the right to abortion.
In the second half of the show we will play a recently conducted interview with a member of Sisters Uncut, whose Direct Action disruption of the premiere in London of the film Suffragette, in order to call attention to the cuts in domestic violence shelters under Britains Austerity government, went viral on the internet.
We’ll also have a feminist news roundup.
